Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced HR consultant to deliver comprehensive HR services across client engagements, including payroll, benefits, onboarding, and offboarding. You will manage day-to-day HR operations, lead client transitions, and serve as the primary contact for complex HR issues.

The role requires knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems, and strong communication with clients and internal teams.

Job description

• Perform full-scope human resources services including payroll, benefits administration, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, compliance, client interactions, and HR-related projects
• Manage day-to-day HR operations within client engagements
• Lead client functions and client transitions as needed
• Serve as first point of contact for escalated or complex HR matters
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations, company policies, and HR Services standards
• Oversee employee onboarding, new hire paperwork, orientation, and policy reviews
• Oversee employee offboarding in accordance with applicable regulations
• Maintain accurate client processes and documentation
• Process client payroll using third-party payroll platforms
• Review time, attendance, leave, payroll changes, and payroll-related data
• Prepare retirement, FSA, and HSA remittances as applicable
• Resolve payroll questions and complex payroll situations
• Administer benefits, enrollments, terminations, changes, leave, COBRA, HIPAA, invoices, renewals, and open enrollment
• Provide clients with HR policy, compliance, employee relations, and best-practice support
• Provide on-site client support as needed
• Maintain knowledge of HR trends, regulatory changes, technologies, talent management, and employment law
• Lead or participate in initiatives improving the HR Services team

Requirements

• 3 years of experience as a subject matter expert
• Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
• Effective customer service skills
• Proficient use of applicable technology
• Ability to work in team environment as well as independently
• Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities
• Experience managing HR functions across multiple states
• Proven experience working with external clients in an HR consulting or outsourcing capacity
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
• Proficiency in HR software and payroll systems
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Experience working with different HRIS, including managing the implementation of new systems
