The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at UC San Diego is seeking a Senior HPC Systems and Storage Engineer. You will design, deploy, and operate HPC compute clusters and their storage, ensuring performance, reliability, and availability for campus, California, and national researchers.

You will lead system lifecycles, develop automation scripts in Bash/Python, and coordinate with security teams while evaluating new technologies and optimizing workflows for scalable compute and data services.

Qualificações

• Experience administering large-scale HPC clusters and Linux systems.
• Experience designing, deploying, and tuning distributed file systems (Lustre, Ceph, BeeGFS, GPFS).
• Scripting and automation with Bash and Python; using Ansible or CFEngine; version control with Git.
• Strong knowledge of HPC middleware and job schedulers (Slurm, PBS, HPCM, Bright Cluster Manager).
• Solid TCP/IP networking understanding and practical experience with performance optimization.

Responsabilidades

• Design, deploy, and operate SDSC HPC compute clusters and storage systems.
• Maintain performance, reliability, and availability across national, state, and campus users.
• Plan lifecycles, deployments, upgrades, and decommissioning of HPC infrastructure.
• Develop advanced automation to improve efficiency, monitoring, and incident response.
• Collaborate with SDSC security teams and document governance and best practices.
