UC San Diego's San Diego Supercomputer Center seeks a seasoned Computational & Data Science Research Specialist. You will apply HPC, data science, and CI best practices to develop tools and workflows, enabling researchers to push the boundaries of AI, HPC, and data-intensive science across national and UC-wide collaborations.

You will support complex projects such as LHC data movement and fusion energy data ecosystems, while collaborating on infrastructure like PNRP, Expanse, and Cosmos.

Qualifications

• Advanced experience deploying HPC/CI applications and tools.
• Ability to resolve complex computing/data/CI problems independently.
• Experience with Kubernetes in research/education settings.
• Experience benchmarking and performance/power modeling for HPC/data/CI systems.
• Knowledge of research cyberinfrastructure and AI-ready data ecosystems.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple institutes on CI/AI projects.

Responsabilités

• Develop and optimize HPC, data science, and CI research tools for SDSC and related projects.
• Provide advanced application and user support for SDSC HPC and AI resources.
• Test, deploy, and benchmark AI inference services on SDSC HPC/AI infrastructure.
• Collaborate with SDSC staff on software-defined networking and data movement projects.
• Engage in proposals and experiments utilizing Expanse, Voyager, PNRP, Cosmos, and related resources.
