Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the architecture, design, modernization, and operation of storage and supporting systems across multiple classified HPC environments.

You will translate demanding mission requirements into secure, scalable infrastructure, develop prototypes and automation, and establish technical standards and lifecycle strategies for HPC storage. This role requires deep technical leadership and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/Engineering or related field and 8+ years in systems engineering or HPC storage.
• Experience supporting intelligence or mission-critical environments is a plus.
• Ability to translate requirements into scalable infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, modernization of storage across classified HPC environments.
• Translate complex mission requirements into secure, scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Develop prototypes and automation using Python, Bash, and configuration-management tools.
• Establish standards and lifecycle strategies for HPC storage infrastructure.
• Mentor staff and help shape technical roadmaps and roadmaps for classified HPC storage.
