Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Lead HPC Engineer to drive the modernization and optimization of HPC environments across Windows and Linux platforms, shaping time-to-market and engineering productivity.

You will architect scalable HPC infrastructure, oversee storage modernization, and guide virtualization transitions, collaborating with R&D teams to align with evolving workloads and GPU-accelerated remote desktop capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in HPC engineering or technical leadership.
• Expertise in HPC job scheduling with PBS and PCS.
• Proficiency in cloud-based VDI (WorkSpaces, NICE DCV).
• Knowledge of HPC storage (FSx Lustre/Windows, EFS).
• Familiar with ANSYS, Abaqus and LS‑DYNA.
• Experience with CAD/engineering apps (Creo, NX).
• Understanding of multi-AZ cloud deployment.
• Experience administering HPC portals (EnginFrame, EF Portal, Open OnDemand).
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy multi-AZ elastic HPC infrastructure to support scalable compute workloads.
• Design and implement storage solutions using FSx Lustre/Windows and EFS.
• Configure and manage PBS scheduler environments to orchestrate job submission and resource allocation.
• Lead migration of VDI to Amazon WorkSpaces and/or NICE DCV on PCS.
• Modernize compute orchestration by transitioning to PCS.
• Evaluate and deploy front-end portals such as EF Portal or Open OnDemand.
• Support simulation workloads including ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, and Matlab.
• Enable high-performance remote desktop capabilities with GPU visualization support.
• Collaborate with R&D to ensure HPC environments meet evolving workload demands.
• Oversee storage modernization, including NetApp ONTAP evaluation.
