Job summary

Harford County Government in Maryland seeks a Housing Services Counselor II in a hybrid role, performing eligibility interviews, counseling across financial capability, rental, home ownership, and eviction prevention.

You will supervise Housing Services Counselor I, maintain files, coordinate workshops, and ensure compliance with HUD and local regulations; requires HUD Housing Certified Counselor and a Bachelor's in sociology or related field.

Qualifications

• Must be HUD Housing Certified Counselor (HUD Housing Certified Counselor)
• Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Behavior Science, or related field
• Five years of related experience; one year supervising or managing teams

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive housing counseling services including homebuyer education, financial literacy, rental counseling, home ownership, foreclosure counseling, home improvement and rehabilitation, energy conservation, fair housing and eviction prevention
• Maintains client files and performs data entry on web-based client data management system
• Researches and prepares Federal, State and local housing counseling grants
• Participates in public meetings and outreach to the public; educates on housing issues
• Keeps abreast of Federal, State, and local housing regulations; prepares reports
• Coordinates monthly first-time home buyer workshops and annual housing fair
