Job summary

Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa is seeking a full-time hotel engineer to manage and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building systems across the property in Costa Mesa, California. The role requires previous hotel engineering experience, supervisory capability, and the ability to handle urgent repairs with professionalism.

You will work with cross-department teams, read blueprints, follow safety codes, and keep detailed logs.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel engineering including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building construction.
• Vocational training or certification in related area; state licensure where required.
• Operate and maintain electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Read blueprints and schematics.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Regular attendance and reliability.
• Supervisory experience required.
• May work varying schedules to reflect property needs.
• Basic computational ability.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the Synergy system; respond to and track service calls.
• Maintain and account for tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on guest rooms and major equipment.
• Respond to service calls within 30 minutes of call.
• Diagnose defects, troubleshoot, and take corrective action when needed.
• Follow departmental procedures for repair, maintenance, installation work.
• Comply with applicable codes and regulations.
• Coordinate with electricians, carpenters, painters, and night engineers.
• Assist in training mechanical staff.
• Maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems regularly.
• Maintain pools, filters, and pumps daily.
• Adjust televisions and program boxes.
• Paint, stain, or repair interior/exterior finishes.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts promptly.
• Record temperature and pressure readings daily.
• Install and repair carpets, ensure safety hazards are addressed.
• Maintain fire safety equipment operations and emergency procedures.
• Respond to HVAC or room calls as a priority.
• Produce logs, charts and preventive maintenance forms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
