Job summary

The Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington, DC seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering Department and ensure the property remains in peak operating condition. The role requires managing preventive maintenance for rooms, public areas, and building systems, and coordinating with the General Manager and hotel leadership.

You will hire and develop the engineering team, supervise staff, and uphold safety policies, including OSHA HazCom, to deliver premier guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel engineering experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and blueprints; read/test equipment.
• Strong business communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Team player committed to guest experiences.

Responsibilities

• Ensure hotel engineering operations meet standards.
• Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance and operations of the hotel structure, systems, and equipment.
• Manage the preventive maintenance program for Rooms and Public Areas; keep records updated.
• Collaborate with hotel management and General Manager.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach, and counsel associates.
• Maintain grounds to ensure a great arrival experience.
• Implement safety policies and OSHA HazCom procedures.
