Job summary

SMI Hotel Group seeks an experienced Chief Engineer for the Delta by Marriott Richmond Downtown to lead maintenance of all building systems, equipment and assets, ensuring comfort and safety for guests and staff.

You will manage a team, coordinate with outside contractors, monitor energy use and costs, supervise preventive maintenance, and respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize downtime across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and culinary equipment.

Qualifications

• Five years hotel maintenance/engineering experience with two years management experience.
• College degree or GED/High School diploma and minimum of 5 years in hotel environment or equivalent experience.
• HVAC, boiler, CPO, plumbing and/or electrical certification desired or ability to obtain.
• Must be detail oriented and able to understand and communicate instructions.
• Must manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and problem solve with staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Manages property’s preventative maintenance program.
• Implements and maintains cost controls to reduce expenses, energy usage and waste.
• Maintains oversight of outside contractors and vendors performing maintenance duties.
• Assesses, repairs and maintains all operating equipment (pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, etc.).
• Assesses, repairs and maintains lock and key systems and hotel appliances/equipment.
• Performs inspections/repairs to kitchen and restaurant equipment and furnishings.
• Performs minor construction work.
• Prepares weekly labor schedules and maintains documentation.
