Job summary

Embassy Suites La Jolla is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead all engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations for our hotel, ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of systems while upholding guest comfort and property appearance.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, hands-on expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems, and a track record of proactive facility management and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in engineering or facilities maintenance, hospitality preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of management or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Experience in preventive maintenance and capital projects.
• Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and schematics.
• Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all hotel engineering and maintenance operations.
• Maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs and projects.
• Supervise and train engineering staff; schedule and evaluate performance.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies promptly.
• Conduct regular property inspections for safety and upkeep.
• Ensure compliance with codes and brand standards.
• Manage budgets, capital improvements, and vendor coordination.
• Maintain logs, inspections, and regulatory records.
