Job summary

Westin Baltimore Airport is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to oversee preventive maintenance, life safety, and the engineering team. You will manage the property's mechanical and electrical systems, ensure adherence to brand and code standards, and supervise capital projects.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, and the ability to work flexible hours to support hotel operations.

Qualifications

• Vocational schooling, military training, certification and/or experience in building related trades required in 1 or more of the following areas: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience at a comparable location. All HEI Chief Engineers are working Chief’s.
• Hotel experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
• Skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
• ADA related Physical Demand Section: Frequent walking, climbing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, smiling, writing, at times working in cramped noisy locations susceptible to extreme hot and cold temperatures with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Understanding of building systems – Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Life Safety, IT, etc.
• Supervise maintenance procedures and capacity planning for guestrooms, public spaces, grounds, and equipment.
• Maintain records supporting RandM Budget, PM Programs, Capital Budget, and Inspections.
• Lead engineering staff, train, supervise, and manage performance.
• Maintain safe, clean engineering spaces and report on reliability metrics.
• Tour hotel daily to identify items requiring engineering or other departmental actions.
