Job summary

Hotel Equities is seeking a Chief Engineer for the Element by Westin in Sedona, AZ. The role oversees the maintenance department, ensures safety and life safety programs, orders supplies, and supervises engineers to maintain hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

The Chief Engineer will manage equipment systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety), coordinate with leadership, and supervise contractors while maintaining budgets and schedules in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma /Secondary qualification or equivalent.
• Must possess thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration equipment.
• Must have knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, maintenance of records of power, water and fuel consumption.
• Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure customer satisfaction and adhere to Guest Service Standards.
• Supervise maintenance staff and inspect work for compliance with procedures and policies.
• Monitor budgets and control department expenses, including maintenance contracts and utilities.
• Prepare annual operating budget and capital plans for the hotel.
• Communicate with leadership on building condition and cost-effective maintenance proposals.
• Supervise external contractors and ensure compliance with company rules.
