Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a dedicated Security Officer II to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at East Jefferson General Hospital. The role includes screening entrants, patrolling, responding to disturbances, and coordinating with local authorities.

Training includes Active Shooter and CPI compliance, with emphasis on deescalation and patient safety. Required: high school diploma, Louisiana driver’s license, firearm certification, and CPI/BLS within orientation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Policy academy graduate preferred.
• Valid Louisiana Driver's license and Firearm certification required.
• Basic Life Support and CPI required within orientation period.
• 1 year experience required; 3 years in a hospital setting preferred.
• Prior military, law enforcement or armed security experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide visual security presence to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
• Screen entrants and monitor activity at the hospital entrance.
• Investigate lost or stolen items from staff or patients.
• Perform routine security patrols of campus, internal and external.
• Respond to disturbances and deescalate situations; coordinate with local authorities as needed.
• Enforce access control, parking, and traffic management; report suspicious activity.
• Operate security equipment and access systems; protect patient valuables.
• Assist staff and patients; provide transport during weather events or rapid response scenarios.
• Attend annual training for Active Shooter, CPI and other required departmental training.
