Job summary

Los Angeles Community Hospitals seeks a Manager of Plant Operations to lead engineering staff and coordinate Plant Services, Bio-Med, EVS and Security programs. You will maintain HVAC, electrical, mechanical, utilities, and grounds in safe working condition and ensure Life Safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 7 years in plant operations with 2+ years supervisory experience, strong English communication, and proficiency in CMS/TJC requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 7 years of plant ops experience with at least 2 years supervisory experience.
• Must read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Knowledge of fire life safety systems, hazardous materials, and utility management.
• Advanced knowledge of CMS and TJC regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to make observations in emergencies and hazardous conditions.
• Sound reasoning and judgment to resolve issues.
• Maintain workload-appropriate pace.
• Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (LA city employees only).

Responsibilities

• Oversees and coordinates daily operations of the department, including maintenance, work orders, troubleshooting, and staff leadership.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and organizations (OSHPD, CMS, TJC, CDPH, fire departments).
• Manages staffing, contracts, coaching, training, hiring/firing, performance evaluations and payroll.
• Leads with a hands-on, collaborative management style and fosters safe, positive morale.
