Job summary

Methodist Hospitals seeks a skilled Plant Operations Technician to maintain building systems, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical equipment across campus. You will perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure code compliance and patient safety.

You will work with the Plant Operations team to manage emergencies, calibrate controls, and keep walkways clear. Experience in industrial maintenance and ability to read blueprints are valued.

Qualifications

• Must pass mandatory breathing apparatus fit test.
• Must have a valid driver license and pass insurance investigation.
• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Must be able to hear audible sounds.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints related to mechanical systems.
• Trade school in mechanical or electrical repairs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Cleans hospital vehicles, drains sewers, boilers, pipes, and assists in moving heavy equipment.
• Delivers large tanks of gases to Surgery, Central Service, and Laboratory as needed.
• Inspects and tests electrical lighting and power circuits.
• Maintains walkways and parking areas, clearing snow and ice.
• Diagnoses malfunctions by observing mechanical devices and inspecting equipment.
• Operates hospital vehicles safely.
• Performs boiler water tests and treats boiler water daily.
• Repairs and maintains piping and plumbing fixtures.
• Responds promptly to hospital emergencies and routine service requisitions.
• Replaces worn parts as directed by Plant Operations Supervisor.
