Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years’ mechanical experience including burning and welding.
• Training in plumbing, HVAC and electrical.
• Must have a basic working knowledge of a wide range of mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs equipment and materials fabrication including miscellaneous installations and repairs (including repairs to wheelchairs and beds); maintains hospital plumbing systems (hot/cold water and sanitary system); supervises daily tasks of Mechanics and oversees completion of scheduled preventative maintenance.
• Responds to, or assigns, service and emergency calls regarding any maintenance repair, electrical or plumbing problem.
• Works closely with outside contractors and engineering firms during construction projects and/or to assure compliance with hospital regulations.
• Demonstrates knowledge and application of DOH, Joint Commission and ICRA requirements.
• Maintains locks and keys and door related apparatus.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
