Job summary

Hippo is seeking a Senior Homeowners Underwriter - Hippo Plus to manage the full underwriting lifecycle for homeowners' risks across endorsements, reinstatements, cancellations, and non-renewals. This role combines data-driven analysis with cross-functional collaboration to surface trends and refine underwriting guidelines.

You will evaluate risk information, recommend loss prevention actions, and partner with sales, claims, and product teams in a fast-paced, pilot-product environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of P&C Homeowners underwriting experience with ability to interpret guidelines, policy language, inspection results, and supporting docs.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, business or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and data-synthesis from inspections, claims, and agent feedback.
• Attention to detail and decision rationale; ability to work in fast-paced experimental environment.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal homeowner’s risks while gathering market intelligence and documenting insights for product development.
• Analyze risk information and recommend inspections, loss prevention actions, and home maintenance interventions.
• Evaluate endorsements, reinstatements, cancellations, and non-renewals per underwriting guidelines.
• Synthesize feedback from sales, customers, claims, and inspections to identify patterns, coverage gaps, and guideline improvements.
• Propose updates to underwriting guidelines and loss prevention thresholds based on data and market conditions.
• Address queries from claims, billing, customer support, and product teams while escalating complex issues.
• Communicate with distribution partners, claims teams, and leadership to resolve underwriting matters and share market intelligence.
• Document observations and recommendations to build an evidence base for strategy discussions.
