Job summary

Aspire People is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a primary school in Oldham. You will support a variety of year groups and work under the guidance of the class teacher.

The role offers flexible agency-based scheduling, competitive daily rates, and ongoing professional development to help you deliver high-quality interventions for pupils with additional needs. You'll cover classes as needed and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults with complex needs.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
• Employment references covering the last 24 months
• An enhanced DBS on the Update service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Safeguarding training

Responsibilities

• As HLTA, deliver planned lessons and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Lead small group and one-to-one sessions to support learning and development.
• Cover whole classes during teacher absence.
• Adapt resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and promote positive behaviour.
• Assist with personal care and emotional regulation where required.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and SENCO.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Contribute to the preparation of classroom materials and displays.
• Ensure safeguarding and health & safety policies are followed at all times.
