Job summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a Hisotechnologist, Sr. to process surgical specimens for pathologic diagnosis, including fixation, processing, microtomy, and staining for microscopic examination.

The role supports quality control and maintenance and may involve training in new technologies. Qualifications include graduating from an approved Histotechnology program, ASCP eligibility or certification, and at least 3 years of laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of Histotechnology.
• Certified by a professional laboratory certifying agency, i.e. ASCP or eligible.
• Three (3) years of laboratory experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs troubleshooting of processing and staining processes and instruments, places engineering and biomed service requests as needed.
• Prepares stock and working reagents and maintains an adequate supply.
• Performs specimen receiving and processing and answers the telephone and greets guests to the department. Regularly reports all abnormal findings to a senior technologist, the assistant manager and/or Pathologist and documents discrepancies and their resolutions.
• Assumes one or more of the following responsibilities: key operator duties, projects, teaching, tech in charge and evaluation of new technology.
• Supervises employees in daily activities associated with histology laboratory functions.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
