Job summary

Baptist Health in Jacksonville is seeking an experienced Histotechnologist to join the Histology Lab on a PRN basis, providing tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining and slide preparation for Pathologists.

Candidates should have 1–2 years in a histology or research lab, an Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), and Florida licensure or eligibility. LIS experience and QA familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in Histology Lab or research setting.
• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Licensed Histotechnologist in Florida or eligible before hire.
• Medical Technology experience also required.

Responsibilities

• Embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains.
• Maintenance of tissue processors, microtomes, cryostats, automated stainers and cover slippers.
• Filing of slides and blocks.
• Knowledge of LIS functions for accessioning and reporting.
• Handling all specimens knowledgeably by consulting with the Pathologist.

Baptist Health is looking to add an experienced Histotechnologist to join our team working in the Histology Lab at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. This is a PRN opportunity working various shifts. Shift Details: PRN, various coverage.

This candidate will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by turning tissue samples into microscope slides based on the Pathologist's needs and orders. This Histotechnologist needs to have strong fine motor skills and be incredibly detail orientated. This candidate must have comprehensive knowledge within a Histology lab and at least 1-2 years of experience working in either a research or Histology lab. Medical Technology experience is also required.

Other duties include: specimen collection, tissue processing, staining, microscopy, quality control, and data management.

As a Histotechnologist, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Performing all technical aspects of Histology, including embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains.
