Job summary

DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION is seeking a Highway Operations Technician 4 in Phoenix to perform intermediate highway ops duties, including sign fabrication, crew scheduling, and staff guidance. You will coordinate after-hours work, participate in call-back rotations, and assist with safety and reporting tasks.

The role requires operating motorized equipment, traveling statewide, and maintaining equipment as needed, with CDL required for eligibility.

Qualifications

• Intermediate highway ops duties including sign fabrication and crew scheduling.
• Ability to train and guide staff and coordinate after-hours work.
• Knowledge of safety practices and public relations for field work.

Responsibilities

• Operate and train others on motorized vehicles/equipment used in signing work.
• Schedule maintenance for equipment and document work in PeCos/FIS.
• Use GPS-enabled laptop to collect features along highways and prepare reports.
• Travel statewide to construction sites and coordinate with other agencies.
