DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION in Flagstaff, AZ is seeking a Transportation Construction Technician 4 to lead inspection activities on highway projects. The role involves reviewing submittals, certs, and documentation, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring accuracy of field data and test results for materials such as asphalt and concrete.

The position supports road construction oversight, equipment operation, and winter weather responsiveness, with mandatory driving of a state vehicle.

Qualifications

• Must possess knowledge of highway construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, and documentation.
• Able to analyze and evaluate engineering data and adhere to standards and policies.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with contractors and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Inspect minor contract items to ensure compliance with standards.
• Prepare field documentation and verify field calculations for FAST input.
• Review material test results and assist in project safety and traffic control.
