Job summary
The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Field Engineer (Civil Engineer V) to plan, coordinate and control maintenance activities in District Nine. The role requires licensure as a Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer in Illinois and at least five years of civil engineering experience.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule with in-office and field responsibilities, and requires travel across the district.
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois.
- Five years of experience in civil engineering.
Responsibilities
- Maintains all state and interstate highways in an assigned geographical area.
- Directs snow and ice removal and disaster field operations.
- Reviews design plans for construction projects to minimize future maintenance problems.
- Provides technical advice and recommendations to the Operations Engineer.
- Assigns, trains, motivates and evaluates subordinate personnel.
