Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, via PennDOT, seeks a Highway Design Supervisor to lead major transportation projects across the state. You will guide teams from planning through completion, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency while coordinating with stakeholders and consultants.

Responsibilities include overseeing schedules and budgets, coordinating with municipalities, and supporting construction units. Telework may be available part-time; standard hours are 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Mon–Fri.

Qualifications

• One year as a Highway Designer (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
• Five years of professional highway design experience including six months of CADD; and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology.
• Two years of professional highway design experience including six months of CADD; and a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Project Oversight: manage schedules, budgets, design tasks, and reviews for on-time delivery.
• Consultant Coordination: lead consultant selection, review proposals, approve agreements and invoices.
• Design Review: ensure plans, reports, permits follow safety standards and PennDOT policies.
• Team Leadership: assign work, coach staff, evaluate performance, develop personnel.
• Stakeholder Coordination: work with municipalities, agencies, and the public to address concerns.
• Construction Support: assist Construction Unit and participate in after-action reviews.
