Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks a Highway Project Engineer to join our Long Island operations in Melville, NY. The ideal candidate will apply engineering principles to roadway projects and contribute to design and construction documents.

With 8+ years in roadway engineering design, you will develop drawings, specs, and cost estimates, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with disciplines to deliver solutions for local, state, and national projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• New York State Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus
• 8+ years of meaningful experience related to roadway engineering design
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn and grow professionally
• Prepare design criteria using relevant codes and standards
• Familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO, and NYSDOT / County / City Standards
• Good writing and communication skills is a plus

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles pertaining to and in support of the detailed plans and construction documents for roadways under the guidance of senior engineers
• Develop drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates
• Actively mentor and provide guidance to less experienced staff
• Progress and evaluate design details for roadway projects, including pavement condition and repair, ADA compliant sidewalk and pedestrian ramp design, signing and pavement markings, complete streets evaluations, highway alignments and profiles, and drainage
• Interface with other technical disciplines (Bridges/ /Signals)
