Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks an entry-level highway engineer for our Albany, NY office to assist on NYSDOT transportation projects. GPI provides planning, design, and construction services for transportation infrastructure with a 50-year track record.

Required: BSCE and EIT, 1–5 years on NY transportation projects, proficiency in MicroStation and InRoads, and a valid driver’s license. Base pay ranges from $74,880 to $83,200 per year, with comprehensive benefits and equal opportunity

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with the design development process for NYSDOT, NYSTA, county, and/or private projects.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD design specifications and NYS standards.
• Experience in design of roadway geometrics; intersections; drainage; erosion control; hydraulics.
• Knowledge of construction sequencing and traffic maintenance plans.
• Preparation of cost estimates and specifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Should have a working knowledge of the design development process for various NYSDOT, NYSTA, county, and/or private projects
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD design specifications, NYS standard specifications, NYS Highway Design Manual andNYS Bridge Design Manual
• Experience in the design of roadway geometrics; intersections; drainage; erosion and sedimentation control; hydraulic and hydrology analysis
• Knowledge of the sequence of construction and maintenance of traffic plans
• Preparation of cost estimates and specifications is a plus

Qualifications

• BSCE and EIT certification is required
• 1 to 5 years of experience on transportation projects in New York including roadways, bridges, and trails
• Proficiency in MicroStation and Inroads is required

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
