Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks an entry-level highway engineer for our Albany, NY office to assist with NYSDOT transportation projects. The role supports design development, cost estimates, and specifications under guidance from senior staff.

Qualifications include a BSCE and EIT, 1–5 years’ transportation experience in New York, and proficiency with MicroStation and InRoads. Valid driver's license and strong reading/writing in English are required.

Qualifications

• BSCE and EIT certification are required.
• 1 to 5 years of experience on transportation projects in New York.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and InRoads.

Responsibilities

• Should have a working knowledge of the design development process for NYSDOT, NYSTA, county, and/or private projects.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD design specifications, NYS standard specifications, NYS Highway Design Manual and NYS Bridge Design Manual.
• Experience in the design of roadway geometrics; intersections; drainage; erosion and sedimentation control; hydraulic and hydrology analysis.
• Knowledge of the sequence of construction and maintenance of traffic plans.
• Preparation of cost estimates and specifications is a plus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
