Job summary

Hut 8 is seeking a Superintendent, HV to lead high-voltage and substation field execution for a new data center build. You will own day-to-day site operations, coordinate trades, enforce safety and quality from mobilization through turnover, and serve as the HV authority on site.

Responsibilities include supervising HV substations and switchyards, coordinating utility outages, and leading testing and energization activities with NETA teams, while maintaining rigorous documentation and safety

Qualifications

• 7+ years supervising high-voltage substation, switchyard, or transmission construction with a utility contractor, EPC, or utility construction organization.
• Hands-on knowledge of substation construction: major equipment setting, bus fabrication, grounding grids, control wiring.
• Experience coordinating utility outages, switching, clearances, and energization - under utility rules.
• Familiarity with relay and protection testing sequences (NETA) and utility acceptance/witness processes.
• Uncompromising HV safety leadership: switching and tagging, MAD, grounding and bonding; OSHA 30 preferred.
• Experience managing specialty HV subcontractors and NETA testing firms.
• Documentation rigor to utility-acceptance standard.
• Comfortable being the site's HV authority and training adjacent trades on HV hazards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise HV substation and switchyard construction, including foundations, steel, bus work, breakers, and transformers.
• Coordinate daily with utility on interconnection scope, clearances, switching orders, and outages.
• Support relay testing, primary injection, doble/megger testing, and end-to-end protection testing with NETA firms.
• Enforce HV safety: MAD, grounding, tagging, arc-flash boundaries, and energized work controls.
• Own the HV three-week look-ahead and manage specialty subcontractors and testing firms to schedule and quality.
• Maintain QC docs, torque/termination records, test records, and as-builts to utility-acceptance standard.
