Job summary

OpenLight Photonics Inc. is seeking a test engineer to join the Goleta, CA team.

You will design, automate, and execute test solutions to validate Silicon Photonics devices and PICs at wafer, die, and package levels, focusing on high-speed modulators and S-parameter testing up to 100 GHz and eye diagrams up to 400 Gb/s. You will develop custom test hardware, automate tests with Python, analyze data, and collaborate with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Requires advanced degree in Electrical/Optical Engineering or Physics.
• Experience in photonic and high-speed RF testing.
• Programming experience, preferably in Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom test hardware and automated test software for wafer and die testing on proprietary test stations.
• Design and implement custom test solutions for 100-400 Gb/s optical eye testing at die and wafer levels and perform DVT testing on 1.6T and 3.2T transceivers using industry-standard equipment.
• Match experimental data to modulator equivalent circuit models.
• Measure laser RIN using different methods and compare performance.
• Write and debug test automation scripts in Python, implement analysis equations, and run tests on designated test stations.
• Perform data analysis in JMP or Python and communicate test plans, results, and project status to internal and external customers.
• Supervise facilities technician and equipment contractors for ongoing equipment maintenance.
