Job summary

OpenLight Photonics Inc. is seeking a hands-on engineer to drive optical and high-speed testing of photonic components, PICs, and systems. You will lead hardware evaluation programs, model performance, and support customer integration across communications, lidar, and sensing domains.

The role requires advanced degree in EE/Photonics, strong Python skills, and experience with transceivers, ADS, and PCB debugging. A hybrid schedule and a startup culture await.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field.
• Experience in design, test, and debug of photonic and high-speed systems, particularly transceivers.
• Hands-on experience with optical and high-speed test equipment.
• Strong Python (or similar) programming ability; familiarity with firmware architectures.
• Ability to read schematics, debug, and work with PCBs.

Responsibilities

• Characterize photonic components and PICs, including lasers, modulators, amplifiers, and other optical components.
• Model high-speed system performance on PCBs and substrates.
• Lead evaluation hardware programs and coordinate with suppliers on design and delivery.
• Build demonstrations on-site and at conferences with clear customer communication.
• Provide customer system integration support with test results documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to ensure platform suitability.
