Job summary

Yewser is building cutting-edge 3D camera hardware and seeking an experienced board designer to own the high-speed core circuitry. You will design from schematic through layout to a working, tested board, in a small, focused team working on rugged, data-rich cameras used in demanding environments.

You will collaborate closely with FPGA and firmware engineers, manage fabrication vendors, and bring up boards on the bench. On-site in South Bay, Los Angeles area, full-time and permanent.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on board designer with full cycle ownership from schematic to working board.
  • Experience with high-speed data links (10G/25G) and multi-gigabit Ethernet.
  • Experience with large BGA FPGAs and 12+ layer stackups.
  • Strong power integrity and impedance control expertise.
  • Fluent in Altium Designer.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full board cycle: schematic capture, part selection, stackup, layout, and fabrication release.
  • Design for very high-speed data, routing 25-gigabit-class signaling and beyond, DDR4/5 memory, and Ethernet.
  • Handle large FPGAs on multi-layer boards, managing signal integrity and power delivery.
  • Own FPGA power delivery and verify signal integrity on bench before fab.
  • Manage fabrication and assembly vendors and drive manufacturability back into the design.
  • Support bring-up and debugging on real hardware with FPGA/firmware engineers.

Job description

Design the boards everything else stands on, end to end, for cameras built to go where electronics don't.

ABOUT THE COMPANY.

We are a stealth-stage technology and tools company founded by one of the most influential figures in the history of 3D and stereoscopic filmmaking. Our mission is simple to say and hard to do: make shooting in native 3D as routine and affordable as ordinary 2D, across film, television, live events, and sports, built on three decades of the most advanced stereoscopic technology ever put on screen.

Two recent milestones accelerate the work. We acquired a world-renowned precision 3D-camera and stereography team whose rigs are behind some of the most technically ambitious films of the past decade. And we entered a multi-year partnership with one of the world\'s largest technology platforms to bring native 3D content to a leading immersive headset.

We are a small, focused team about two years into active R&D, designing custom 3D camera and production hardware end to end, including cameras engineered for environments most electronics never survive, from underwater to extreme-condition shoots. This is genuine ground-floor work, and what you build here will show up on the largest screens in the world.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will design the high-speed circuit boards at the core of our custom cameras and own them end to end, from schematic through layout to a working, tested board. These are dense, high-performance boards moving enormous amounts of data, packed into small, rugged form factors built for punishing environments. You will work hand in glove with our FPGA engineer to turn logic into reliable, manufacturable hardware. This is hands-on work on a small team. You own boards from concept to bring-up, manage your fabrication and assembly vendors, and debug on the bench alongside the FPGA and firmware engineers.

WHAT YOU\'LL DO
  • Own the full board cycle: schematic capture, part selection, stackup, constraint-driven layout, and release to fabrication.
  • Design for very high-speed data, routing 25-gigabit-class signaling and beyond, fast memory (DDR4/5), and multi-gigabit Ethernet cleanly and reliably.
  • Handle large, high-pin-count FPGAs on many-layer boards, managing signal escape, via transitions, and clean power and ground.
  • Own the FPGA power delivery, and prove the signal and power integrity before the board goes to fab, then verify it on the bench afterward.
  • Manage fabrication and assembly vendors, review first articles, and drive manufacturability back into the design.
  • Support bring-up and debug on real hardware, working closely with the FPGA and firmware engineers.
  • Design the supporting boards the team needs (breakouts, test fixtures, adapters, power boards).

WHAT WE\'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Several years (roughly 5 to 10) as a hands-on board designer who owns the full cycle, schematic through layout through a working board, not layout-only or direct-others work.
  • Proven high-speed digital design: fast serial links (10G/25G and up), fast memory buses, and multi-gigabit Ethernet with proper impedance control and length matching.
  • Comfortable with large BGA FPGAs (1000-plus pins) on 12-plus layer stackups.
  • Solid power design and power integrity for complex FPGA boards (multi-rail supplies, sequencing, decoupling), plus the signal-integrity work to make the fast links close (eye-diagram verification).
  • Fluent in Altium Designer (our primary tool).
  • Bench-comfortable: happy with a scope, meter, and soldering iron to bring a board up and chase down issues.
  • Low ego, high ownership. On a small team, nothing is beneath this role.
NICE TO HAVE
  • Design for harsh or field-deployed environments (conformal coating, potting, pressure housings, marine-rated connectors).
  • Flex or rigid-flex design for tight spaces; thermal management for high-power parts.
  • Mechanical-CAD familiarity to coordinate board outlines, connectors, and enclosures.
  • Experience with camera, broadcast, or video hardware, or ground-floor R&D where you owned the full arc.
LOCATION & LOGISTICS

South Bay, Los Angeles. On-site 3 to 4 days per week, with flexibility around build and test cycles. Full-time and permanent, a ground-floor role on a small team that is growing. We are an equal-opportunity employer and value a diverse, high-ownership team.

Why this matters. Every board you design is the foundation the FPGA logic, the firmware, and ultimately the image all stand on. Get the power, the fast links, and the memory right, and everything above it comes to life.
