Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions, Nashua, NH, is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead mechanical design for next‑gen high‑speed connectors. You’ll ensure roadmaps align with industry needs, interact with customers, and collaborate with internal teams including manufacturing and sales.

The role requires strong CAD/CAE skills, a mechanical engineering background, and extensive experience in electronics.

Qualifications

• MS/BS in Mechanical Engineering with significant experience in electronics industry.
• 10+ years in design, preferably in electronics industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid modeling/CAE/CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, etc.).
• High level of manufacturing technology experience.
• Experience in tolerance analysis.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Good understanding of GD&T methodologies.
• Familiarity with patent law and patent process.
• Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people.
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
• Ability to travel ~10% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Understand evolving industry needs and product requirements.
• Lead automation design with NPI and Machine Design teams for high-volume, quality production.
• Collaborate with Signal Integrity (EE) to meet electrical performance requirements.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Integrity for high reliability across the product life.
• Conduct tolerance analyses and material selection aid.
• Develop initial product specifications and technical documentation.
• Interface with customers during various project phases and assist sales.
• Work with suppliers on DFM, prototyping, tooling, and travel to sites.
• Provide technical support to marketing and sales teams.
• Participate in quality investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to fixture/tooling design and test plans (mechanical and electrical).
• Lead cost-reduction projects and material substitutions.
• Occasionally present to upper management and attend industry events.
