Job summary

Washington County Government is seeking a Maintenance Equipment Operator III to operate a range of heavy equipment for highway maintenance and related duties in Maryland. The role requires a CDL Class A and experience with construction machinery, plus ability to train others and supervise crews when needed.

Responsibilities include routine repairs, equipment records, and assisting with complex repairs under guidance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 5 years of heavy equipment experience.
• Comparable training/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.
• CDL-A required within 9 months; training provided upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment safely for highway maintenance.
• Perform minor repairs to heavy equipment.
• Train other operators in safe operation of heavy equipment.
• May supervise a road crew.
• Keep records of fuel, oil, parts and supplies.
• Perform related highway maintenance tasks as assigned.
