Job summary

Zachry Construction Corporation is seeking an experienced Heavy Construction Field Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of heavy equipment for our field projects. You will work on machines from Caterpillar, John Deere, Link-Belt, Manitowoc/Grove, and Gomaco, ensuring reliability and safety on site.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of heavy equipment maintenance, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Experience with major manufacturers (Caterpillar, John Deere, Link-Belt, Manitowoc/Grove, Gomaco).
• Strong troubleshooting for engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, A/C and control modules.
• Welding and fabricating experience is a plus.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and drivetrain issues on heavy equipment.
• Interpret manuals to identify repairs and order parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance and document conditions and repairs.
• Maintain records of daily maintenance and repair activities.
• Operate tools safely and follow Zachry policies and OSHA regulations.
• Ensure work is high quality and equipment is returned in safe condition.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and communicate with supervisors and operators.
