Job summary

Capitol Aggregates, a division of Zachry, seeks a Mechanic Technician 1 to support inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of a wide range of equipment at plant locations. This role is primarily shop-based but may move to plant environments as needed, servicing heavy and light vehicles, earth-moving machinery, engines, air compressors, pumps, vac trucks, sweepers, golf carts, and more.

Responsibilities include major and minor repairs, routine service calls, welding and fabrication,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics is highly desired but not required.
• Must have a valid and clean driver’s license.
• Must be proficient with computers.
• Must have proficient knowledge of and ability to use software to diagnose and repair component systems.
• Must be able to operate a truck-mounted crane.
• Ability to provide own basic tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on trucks, vehicles, and equipment, completing both major and minor work as assigned.
• Respond to routine service calls on both on-road and off-road equipment.
• Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment such as loaders, bulldozers, off-highway trucks, and skid steers.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machine work.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rebuild equipment systems as directed.
• Maintain clean equipment, shop areas, and workspaces daily.
• Follow all related and established company, plant, and safety regulations.
