Job summary

The State of Alaska, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead to help Keep Alaska Moving. You will diagnose, repair and maintain a range of heavy equipment used on state roads and rural airports across Alaska, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.

The role requires the ability to travel to remote sites and perform complex repairs.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of transmissions, brakes, engines and emissions.

Responsibilities

• Professionally maintain heavy-duty and light-duty equipment for roads and airports.
• Diagnose, repair and modify mechanical systems including transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission, fuel injection, hydraulic systems and brakes.
• Travel to remote locations as needed and work with limited supervision.
