Job summary

Caton Construction Group is seeking a seasoned Heavy Civil Project Manager for the Richmond, VA area. The role focuses on leading civil highway projects, managing budgets, and ensuring safety and quality across site operations.

You will coordinate with field teams and executive leadership to deliver projects on time and within profit targets. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of civil heavy/highway project experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with HeavyJob, BlueBeam, and P6.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years on civil heavy/highway projects required.
• Knowledge of HeavyJob, BlueBeam and P6 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage civil construction projects per requirements and engineering standards.
• Control project budget and margins; provide cost projections and adapt to budget changes.
• Develop and update project schedules with realistic timelines for future work items.
• Ensure site safety policy adherence and implement Incident and Injury Free culture.
• Prepare project documentation and reports for upper management review.
• Coordinate with field management to resolve execution issues and manage subcontractors.
• Lead weekly project meetings and manage staffing per project needs.
• Oversee contracts, subcontracts, and supplier purchase orders.
• Communicate clear roles and responsibilities to the project team.
