Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator in Connecticut to backfill a veteran estimator and help lead the department into the future. The ideal candidate will price work, read plans, and develop Primavera schedules while identifying risks and communicating effectively with leadership and operations.

This role offers a direct path toward Chief Estimator, exposure to senior leadership and project teams, and a competitive base salary with a performance-based bonus and robust benefits.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
• Strong plan reading, specification review and quantity takeoff skills.
• Ability to estimate based on actual field production and not just historical prices.
• Experience creating pre-award and baseline Primavera schedules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review estimates for roadwork, sitework, paving, drainage, utilities, earthwork, concrete and subcontracted scopes.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, profiles, cross sections, bid forms and specifications.
• Build estimates using labor, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, vendors and production assumptions.
• Create Primavera pre-award schedules covering bid strategy, phasing, procurement, MOT, milestones and project duration.
• Develop Primavera baseline schedules following award for owner submission and project control.
• Review subcontractor and vendor quotes for scope gaps, exclusions and schedule risk.
• Participate in bid reviews and support the transition from estimating into operations.
• Mentor junior estimators and progress toward estimating department leadership.
