I’m currently representing one of my retained clients, a well-established heavy civil contractor in Connecticut, on a confidential search for a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator.
This is more than another estimating position. The company is backfilling a senior estimator who has been with the business for 25 years and is looking for the right person to develop into a future
The ideal candidate can price the work, understand how it will be built, develop Primavera schedules, identify risk and communicate effectively with both leadership and operations.

- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, profiles, cross sections, bid forms and specifications.
- Build estimates using labor, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, vendors and production assumptions.
- Create Primavera pre-award schedules covering bid strategy, phasing, procurement, MOT, milestones and project duration.
- Develop Primavera baseline schedules following award for owner submission and project control.
- Review subcontractor and vendor quotes for scope gaps, exclusions and schedule risk.
- Participate in bid reviews and support the transition from estimating into operations.
- Mentor junior estimators and progress toward estimating department leadership.
