Job summary

Kimmel & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead heavy civil estimating for Puget Sound projects. This role will evaluate opportunities, develop detailed cost estimates, and prepare competitive bid proposals for public and private sector work.

You will work closely with project managers, field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate projections, effective buyout, and strong financial performance from bid through project closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 10-20+ years of experience estimating heavy civil construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction incl. underground utilities, roadway construction, mass grading, earthwork, and water/wastewater infrastructure.
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid estimating software and Primavera P6 scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project plans and specifications to develop detailed cost estimates and competitive proposals for public and private sector projects.
• Assess bid opportunities, review constructability, evaluate project risks, and support strategic bid decisions.
• Maintain involvement from initial estimating and bid submission through execution and closeout.
• Support contract development, project buyout, subcontractor negotiations, and material purchasing.
• Coordinate bid bonds, evaluate insurance requirements, and ensure timely submission of documentation.
• Participate in work-in-progress reviews and collaborate with project managers to protect budgets and margins.
• Coordinate with project management, executive leadership, accounting, administration, and field personnel to support project success.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Provide estimating expertise during site visits and throughout project execution as needed.
