Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking a senior heating plant technician to oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers and related equipment at a state facility. You will ensure safe, reliable power and water systems to support daily operations and inmate programs.

You will read sketches/diagrams, test water treatment, maintain electrical components, and supervise minor repairs while assisting with major projects.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of skilled experience relevant/similar to the listed job functions.

Responsibilities

• Operate and repair boilers and related equipment such as feed water pumps, circulating pumps, valves and regulators.
• Repair/replace steam and water lines, unions, regulators, strainers, steam traps, and related equipment.
• Replace seals and gaskets in power plant equipment.
• Test and monitor the water treatment system of boilers.
• Maintain/repair electrical and/or electronic components such as control panels and wiring.
• Read sketches/diagrams in performing maintenance and repair work.
• Maintain/test/operate diesel generators for emergency electric power production.
• Make minor adjustments/repairs to electrical generators, boilers, pumps, refrigeration systems, and related plumbing equipment; assist in major repair work; operate related auxiliary equipment as necessary.
