Job summary

CA Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation seeks a Stationary Engineer at a correctional facility. The role operates, maintains, and repairs boilers, heating, refrigeration and related systems while supervising incarcerated workers.

You will plan maintenance, read schematics, and coordinate with vendors as needed. Training to meet OSHA requirements for competent person and/or certified supervisor may be provided.

Qualifications

• Eligibility exam required before applying.
• Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing boilers, heating and HVAC systems.
• Ability to supervise incarcerated workers on maintenance tasks.
• Ability to read schematics, plans and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, pumps, valves, and steam distribution.
• Instruct, lead, or supervise incarcerated people in maintenance tasks.
• Plan, monitor, and schedule maintenance on institutional heating and utility systems.
• Weld, fabricate, fit, install, and repair mechanical devices.
• Read schematics, plans and blueprints; coordinate with vendors for quotes.
