Job summary

The State of Colorado, Department of Corrections, is seeking a Boiler Operator Supervisor I for a Canon City facility. You will ensure safe boiler operations, supervise inmate workers, and uphold security and compliance standards in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining boiler systems, coordinating with plumbing/HVAC teams, and promoting community re-entry by providing inmates with training and real-work skills. Strong ethics and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of employment experience as a utility plant or boiler operator performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on steam or hydronic boilers and pumps.
• Alternative: four (4) years in HVAC with boilers above 15 psi or related work experience combined with plumbing/HVAC roles.
• Substitutions: apprenticeship or trade degree may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of facility staff and inmates.
• Operate and maintain boiler plant and related equipment.
• Supervise inmate workers and train them in boiler operations.
• Ensure compliance with Boiler Code and related regulations; manage budget and resources.
