Job summary

Nevada Department of Corrections is seeking an HVACR Specialist 2 to maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City. The role involves leading inmate crews, following safety protocols, and maintaining inventories of parts and tools.

Qualified candidates have completed an HVACR apprenticeship and possess journey-level experience, or equivalent education and experience, with responsibilities including

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• OR one year of experience as a HVACR Specialist I in Nevada State service.
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on HVACR equipment and related systems across facilities.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical components, sensors, and control units.
• Inspect, log, and report system performance including temperatures, pressures, and fuel usage.
• Replace worn parts, belts, filters, and refrigerants as required.
