Job summary

Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. seeks a Sr. Design Engineer to assess customer specs, perform mechanical design and FEA, and prepare manufacturing drawings for heat exchangers under ASME Section III/VIII and HEI standards.

The role involves reviewing drawings, coordinating with customers and internal teams, and developing design automation and standards for Section III products. A PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in ASME Section III/VIII pressure vessels or heat exchangers in power/Process/oil & gas.
• Experience in designing pressure vessels and heat exchangers per ASME Section VIII-1 & 2, III, or HEI is required.
• PE license preferred and certifying engineer knowledge in ASME III is a plus.
• Proficiency in Intergraph CADWorx, PV Elite, Codeware Compress, RCS, HTRI or similar tools.
• Familiarity with CFD and drafting software such as AutoCAD/Inventor/SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical and structural calculations (including FEA) and prepare drawings and BOMs.
• Create performance curves and analyses per HEI, ASME, TEMA, and PED standards.
• Review fabrication drawings for conformance to specs and codes.
• Support proposals and project execution with customers.
• Coordinate with engineering, estimating, supply management and sourcing.
• Inform PM of contract changes affecting price, scope, cost, quality or schedule.
• Develop in-house design automation for heat exchanger drafting and BOM integration.
• Perform onsite equipment inspections and document findings.
• Publish engineering standards for all Section III products.
