Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Litigation Manager to oversee complex medical malpractice and general liability claims across acute hospitals and employed providers. You will lead defense efforts, coordinate with hospital administration, and manage relationships with outside counsel.

The role requires a JD or equivalent, 7+ years of healthcare claims experience, and strong negotiation, case management, and communication skills. Travel up to 10% may be required as part of coordination across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; clinical degree or Juris Doctor preferred.
• Seven plus years of experience in medical malpractice or healthcare claims management.
• Proficiency in legal case management software and/or court filing portals.
• Healthcare and legal expertise with knowledge of procedures and standards of care.
• Strong research, analytical, and computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken).
• Up to 10% travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Manage docket of complex medical malpractice and general liability claims for acute hospitals and employed providers.
• Oversee defense of insured litigation from incident reports to trial, including discovery, mediation, settlement, arbitration or trial.
• Retain and direct counsel; assist with witness coordination and discovery responses.
• Monitor claims and supervise counsel; prepare reports to senior leadership for authority or reserve adjustments.
• Attend mediations and trials as negotiator and monitor strategy.
• Prepare reports to insurance carriers as needed; collaborate with risk management teams.
