Job summary

NBBJ is seeking an Interior Designer to work on international and domestic Healthcare and Corporate projects, with additional health sciences, civic, and commercial work. The role focuses on pursuing, developing, managing, and executing the design of projects from concept to completion.

The candidate will lead design processes, collaborate across disciplines, and mentor teams while advancing healing spaces and user-centered environments for diverse clients.

Qualifications

• Interior Design or Architecture degree from an accredited program (Master’s or Bachelor’s)
• Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture
• Significant experience on complex healthcare projects across design phases
• Architectural or interior design professional licensure a plus
• LEED accreditation or within 18 months of hire
• Strong marketing, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Experience leading teams and directing design on multiple projects concurrently
• Experience in research, selection and specification of materials and finishes
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Experience with furniture selection and specification a plus
• Basic working knowledge of Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, Rhino and/or 3DS Max

Responsibilities

• Be a champion of design excellence across the firm, leading our practice in setting new standards for innovation, performance, social and environmental impact
• Lead design processes for multiple scales and project complexities, from concept through documentation and CA; may lead a team or work as a solo designer
• Demonstrate deep expertise and passion for healing spaces for patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Excel in cross-disciplinary collaboration with architects, planners, lighting and graphic designers
• Foster and develop design talent, setting standards for professional and creative rigor
• Describe design solutions with clear narratives and graphics to engage clients and teams
• Distill insights and link them within a design framework
• Drive design toward measurable outcomes, bottom line, and stakeholder goals
• Engage with people at a deep level, representing a human and humane perspective
