Job summary

NBBJ is seeking an Interior Designer to lead and execute design for international and domestic healthcare and corporate projects, mentoring junior staff and collaborating with architects and planners. The role emphasizes producing work while managing multiple projects and balancing broad design leadership.

Ideal candidates have extensive healthcare project experience, LEED accreditation, and strong leadership. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Interior Design or Architecture degree from an accredited program (Master’s or Bachelor’s)
• Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture
• Significant experience on complex healthcare projects in all phases of design
• LEED accreditation or within 18 months of hire
• Strong marketing, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Experience leading teams and directing design on multiple projects
• Experience in selection and specification of materials and finishes
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Experience with furniture selection and specification is a plus
• Basic working knowledge of Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, Rhino and/or 3DS Max

Responsibilities

• Be a champion of design excellence across the firm, leading our practice in setting new standards for innovation, performance, social and environmental impact
• Lead design processes for multiple scales and project complexities, from concept through CA; mentor or direct a team
• Design healing spaces for patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Collaborate across disciplines with architects, planners, lighting and graphic designers
• Foster and grow design talent, setting standards for professional and creative rigor
• Describe design solutions clearly with graphics that build client understanding and engagement
• Distill insights into a cohesive design framework
• Drive design toward measurable outcomes, aligning with client and environmental goals
• Engage with people deeply to represent a humane perspective
