Job summary

BeWell in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our Finance team in a healthcare setting. Reporting to the CFO, you will manage accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and GAAP accounting, ensuring strong internal controls and compliance with regulations.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in accounting/finance, 5+ years of supervisory experience, and not-for-profit healthcare accounting familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• At least 10 years progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory/management experience.
• Healthcare or hospital not-for-profit accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with not-for-profit accounting and reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial operations including accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and general accounting and reporting.
• Create and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee bank activity, cash forecasts, accounts payable, and payroll processing (ADP Workforce Now).
• Coordinate with HR to set up employee profiles and tax withholding; act as ADP admin.
• Coordinate and prep monthly financial statements, quarterly reports, and audit activities to GAAP.
• Assist CFO in financing opportunities, bank relations, and risk monitoring.
