Job summary

Highland Hospital in Charleston, WV is seeking a Controller to direct all financial administration, including general accounting, payroll, budgeting, and reporting. The role collaborates with leadership, supervises the finance team, ensures GAAP compliance, and coordinates audits and compliance reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Accounting (Master’s preferred), 5+ years of healthcare accounting experience, and proficiency with AP and Payroll software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Five or more years of accounting experience, preferably in a health care setting.
• Experience with current accounting software, especially Accounts Payable and Payroll.

Responsibilities

• Directs financial systems, controls and GAAP-compliant accounting.
• Plans and monitors annual budgets and fiscal targets for the department.
• Oversees daily finance department operations and reporting.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts monthly and prepares journals.
• Manages payroll, accounts payable and purchasing functions.
• Coordinates audits and ensures regulatory compliance.
